Network Wires & Power Wires In The Same PVC Pipe ? 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

Is it ok to run power wires for powering computers in the same PVC pipe as our network wires? It does not matter if this meets code because this is being wired in our office in China.

I just want to know if this could cause networking problems? Voltage problems? Etc.

Thank you in advance for any advice that you can give.

personally... I wouldn't do it.
Even with insulation electrical wire has an electrical field, and being that it is a different current than your networking cable, it could cause interference.

I agree. It is not a good idea to mix power wire with network or communication wiring. The power wire has an electrical field that can be induced into the other wire. As a matter of fact the wires should only cross at 90deg angles in order to minimize induced voltage and communication problems.
